The process of healing

We are given one body. What we do with it has a direct effect on the quality of life we experience. When we are young it seems we are invincible, so little thought is given to health and balance. Fortunately, a mechanism is always operating — the homeostatic mechanism — whose job is to keep bringing our body back to balance.

My training has sensitized me to look for the first signs of imbalance by evaluating the nervous system. When people experience severe pain for the first time, the event — a lift, a fall, a twist — often doesn't seem to warrant the severity of the pain. It is important to introduce the notion of cause and effect: if you continually lift, sit, or sleep incorrectly, the cumulative effect of that behavior will eventually catch up with you, and you will experience the effect — usually pain.

Pain need not be the only guideline we have for an imbalanced situation.
What to Expect

Our work together

  1. Accurately diagnose and treat the presenting musculo-skeletal condition.
  2. Work with the patient to reach their pre-injury state.
  3. Counsel the patient on how, biochemically, the injury occurred — and how not to re-injure themselves.
  4. Alert the patient to the subtle “warning signs” of potential musculo-skeletal problems.
  5. Teach the patient to become self-responsible for their healthcare — so pain need not be their only guide to an imbalance.
